(St. Francis High School Pom, Junior High Poms, and Recreation Dance)

Fifty years from now it when I look back on my life it won't matter what car I drove, where I lived, or how much
money I had in my bank account. These things all may be necessities in my life but I really feel when I look back at
my life I will feel fulfilled, proud, and happy because I was important in the life of children.

Everyone who knows me knows that my dance students and my pom girls come as a top priority in my life. I work
everyday trying to grow as better person and teacher, and the children I have taught along the way have all
contributed to the person I am today. When a child leaves my dance class, moves on to other activities, or
graduates to new chapters of their life, I want them to go away and say, "I learned more in dance than just
choreography."

I firmly feel that building character in children is more of my job than building knowledge of dance
terminology....but I work at doing both.

Dance has been a place where I have not only cultivated talents, but I have also learned about life, about
friendship, and about commitment. Some of my greatest life lessons and my fondest memories  have happened in
dance class or pom practice from dancers of all sorts; the children who cause trouble, the children who struggle,
and the children who excel. All of whom are an important part of my life.

In poms we embrace that winning is great, but being the best you can be is more rewarding than being the best.
Through team building, fun events, and bonding these girls don't only treasure teamwork, but they treasure a
lasting friendship. These girls are life long friends and travel the rough roads and the calm seas together. Although
the storms come through and the waves push and pull them through whirlwinds, they always emerge a stronger
team than before.

In Rec. Dance we will embrace teamwork, dance technique, fun choreography, and creativeness. Older children
(7 and up) will focus on developing dance technique and difficulty as well as character and social skills. Younger
children (6 and under) will focus on fun choreography that is preparatory for intermediate and advanced work,
social skills, and creativity. The hour class will work primarily on dance and tumbling, with fun dance-related craft
activities once a month.

"Every adventure starts with a moment.

Every journey begins with a step.

Every dream begins with a dreamer.

Anything is possible."
